DUBAI – P&O Maritime Logistics has appointed Martin Helweg as its new Chief Executive Officer. For the past 3 years, Helweg has been responsible for P&O Maritime Logistics’ global operations. He will report to Mike Bhaskaran, DP World’s Chief Operating Officer for Logistics and Technology.

P&O Maritime Logistics was created last year following DP World’s acquisition of Topaz Energy and Marine and its integration with P&O Maritime. Helweg previously spent over 15 years in marine service solutions working for Svitzer, an AP Moller-Maersk Company in regional CFO and CEO roles across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

UK – Lloyd’s Register (LR) has appointed Elina Papageorgiou as its new Marine and Offshore President for UK and Ireland, effective April 1. Papageorgiou has held a variety of roles across North and South Europe in sales, marketing and finance functions since joining LR in 2004. She most recently led LR's Marine and Offshore sales teams in 11 different countries across South Europe.

UK – GB Railfreight has announced the appointment of Liam Day as Commercial Director. Day previously served as the company’s Head of Contracts. He replaces Lee Armstrong who is joining Associated British Ports.

UK – As mentioned above, Associated British Ports (ABP) has appointed Lee Armstrong to the newly created role of Group Head of Commercial (Rail).

UK – SCALA has announced David Short as a Senior Consultant. Short has over 30 years of experience in the logistics sector and most recently lead the industrial engineering function for DHL Europe.

UK – Bis Henderson Consulting has appointed Matt Whittaker to head up the company’s new Property Services offering. Whittaker has previously held senior supply chain roles at DHL, NHS Supply Chain, and Kuehne + Nagel.

US – Norfolk Southern has announced several promotions. Greg Comstock, formerly General Manager of Network Operations Center and General Manager for the Southern Region, has been named Vice President of Network Operations.

Lorri Kleine, previously Senior General Counsel of Workforce, Properties, Insurance Risk Management, is now Vice President of Law.

Patrick Whitehead, former Assistant Vice President of Mechanical and General Manager for the Northern Region, has taken the role of Vice President of Transportation.

Former General Manager of Facilities, Josh Raglin, has been appointed to the role of chief Sustainability Officer.

CANADA – Rush Truck Centres of Canada Limited has announced that Vice President of Operations, Richard Shortt, has been appointed President and Chief Operating Officer, following the planned departure of Roger Poirier, on February 28, after two years in the role.
