The southern Port of Fuzhou in Fujian province has finished the build of two new berths within the Songxia port area.The works includes one 50,000-tonnes bulk cargo berth (available for vessels up to 100,000 tonnes) and one general cargo berth (available for vessel up to 20,000 tonnes). The annual cargo handling capacity of this project is 2.8 million tonnes, reported Seatrade Maritime News, Colchester, England.

 

The expansion works are expected to raise the cargo throughput of Fuzhou port, optimise port infrastructure and support the development of local industrial companies.Looking to the future, Songxia port area plans to develop the Niutouwan area and construct several new berths for container cargo transportation.

 

Fuzhou port processed 116 million tonnes of cargo and 3.2 million TEU in 2019. The port currently operates 30 berths above the 10,000-tonne class.
