1.On April 8, Ye Weilong, deputy general manager of COSCO SHIPPING Group, died in Beijing early this morning at the age of 57.


2.Major ports in coastal areas of China have restored their operations to roughly the pre-COVID-19 level.


3.Japanese owner Nisshin Shipping has returned to Chinese yard Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering for the construction of two 63,500 dwt ultramax bulkers.


4.CDB Leasing has entered into shipbuilding contracts with New Dayang Shipbuilding for the construction of eight 63,000 dwt ultramax bulk carriers.


5.OOCL’s software company CargoSmart has conducted a pilot project with Cosco, SIPG and Tesla for a new application.
 

6.The Liberian Registry continues to adjust to the disruptions caused by COVID-19 by leveraging its use of technology and modern communication. 


7.The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) has been recognized on the United States Coast Guard’s (USCG’s) QUALSHIP 21 roster for the period 1 July 2020-30 June 2021.
